Challenge:
Pearson felt it was important for each of its 800 employees to have the opportunity to customize his or her own workspace.
Strategy:
Fox designed and managed a furniture selection process and schedule to ensure orders were placed accurately, on time, by phase.
Scope of services also included the following:
- Compilation of project records, including as-built drawings, furniture and equipment specifications and pricing, operating manuals, warranties, vendor contact information
- Coordination of equipment testing and staff training relative to furniture and building issues
- Development and implementation of new signage package
- Training and managing departmental coordinators to determine appropriate usage of common spaces, such as storage rooms, copy rooms, and conference rooms
- Coordination of information with architects, project manager, IS, and senior management
- Establishing and managing company-wide materials purging process and allocation of common file and storage space
- Evaluating of operational and policy changes, i.e., mail distribution, “clean office” policies, conference room scheduling
- Conducting employee tours of the new space
- Managing contractor and vendor punch list items to successful completion
- Developing comprehensive move plan, including phasing of critical service departments, and on-site supervision during all move phases.
- Providing post-move support including all building, furniture, ergonomic and training issues
Results:
Pearson made the multiphased transition to its 100,000 sf facility seamlessly. Employees’ productivity and satisfaction with the workplace environment was significantly improved, and the project team was able to attend to the entire scope of their responsibilities during the course of the project. Pearson took advantage of the resources Fox had to offer and implemented best practices from our vast array of project tools and data from numerous other organizations.
